2 Days Tour From Fez To Merzouga & The Sahara Desert

Day 1 : Fes – Ifrane – the Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Fes, before setting off through the spectacular Middle Atlas Mountains toward the Sahara.

Our first stop is Immouzer, a charming French-style town known for its pleasant climate and unique architecture. From there, we continue to Ifrane, often called “The Moroccan Little Switzerland” for its alpine feel and clean streets.

Next, we head to Azrou, where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air and meet the playful Barbary macaques in the cedar forests. Along the way, our guides will share insights into the region’s deep Berber heritage.

We’ll pause in Midelt, also known as the “Berber town of rocks”, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Berber tagine for lunch while learning more about the fascinating culture of the local people.

In the afternoon, we arrive at Merzouga – the Golden Gate of the Sahara. Here, your camels await for a magical trek across the golden dunes. As the sun sets, painting the desert in warm colors, we reach our luxury camp nestled among the sand dunes. The evening unfolds around a campfire under the stars, with traditional Berber music and folklore, making it an unforgettable desert night.

Day 2 : Back To Fez

Rise early to admire the magical sunrise as it paints the Sahara dunes in warm golden tones — a memory that will stay with you forever. After this serene moment, we return to Merzouga for a refreshing shower and a nourishing breakfast.

The road back to Fes begins with a visit to Rissani, a historic desert town famous for its bustling souks and as the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. Its lively markets and old streets invite you to discover the essence of desert traditions.

We then cross the beautiful Ziz Valley, with its palm groves, dramatic gorges, and scattered kasbahs. A stop in a welcoming Berber village allows you to enjoy a relaxed lunch and taste authentic local dishes.

In the afternoon, the route winds once again through the Middle Atlas Mountains, where crisp air and striking cliffs contrast with the sandy landscapes of the Sahara.

By evening, we arrive back in Fes, and you’ll be dropped off at your riad or hotel. Thus ends your 2-day Fes Desert Tour, an experience filled with discovery, cultural encounters, and the timeless beauty of Morocco.
