4 Days Tour From Fes To Marrakech Via Erg Chebbi

Day 1: Fez – Midelt – Merzouga

Departing Fez early in the morning, you’ll journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains on your way to Ifrane, a charming ski resort designed by the French in the 1930s to resemble a Swiss village. Nearby, in the cedar forests of Azrou, you may spot playful Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat.

As you descend from the Atlas Mountains toward the Sahara Desert, the route takes you through scenic woodlands, natural springs, jagged rock formations, and traditional Berber villages. Midway, we stop in Midelt, a town famous for its abundant fossils and striking rock formations, where you’ll enjoy lunch.

Continuing on, we arrive in Merzouga by evening. Here, you’ll savor dinner accompanied by traditional Saharan music and spend the night in a cozy kasbah, surrounded by the enchanting desert landscape.

Day 2: Sandboarding – Explore The Desert – Khamlia Village – Visit The Nomads Tribes – Jeep Tour – Ovnt At The Same Camp

Khamsa is a small village located about 12 kilometers southwest of Essaouira, Morocco, renowned for its lively Gnaoua music. This traditional Moroccan music has its roots in Sub-Saharan Africa and is known for its hypnotic rhythms, chanting, and dancing. Gnaoua music holds spiritual and religious significance and is often associated with healing rituals and trance-like performances. Visitors to Khamsa can enjoy live performances and even participate in traditional ceremonies.

The village also offers a chance for cultural immersion. You can meet local musicians, artisans, and residents to learn about their customs, daily life, and the Gnaoua tradition. Khamsa is home to skilled artisans who create pottery, textiles, and woodwork. Visitors can watch them at work in their workshops or try making a piece of their own.

Beyond culture, Khamsa is surrounded by scenic landscapes, including rolling hills, olive groves, and argan forests. Take time to explore the countryside, hike, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. During a jeep tour, you will have the opportunity to visit real nomads who still maintain their traditional lifestyle without electricity or modern irrigation systems, giving you a unique insight into their way of life.

Day 3: Merzouga – Gorge Toudgha – Boumalne Dades

Rise early to witness the sunrise just beyond the Algerian border, about 50 kilometers from Merzouga, before setting off by car toward your first stop of the day: Tinghir.

Towering cliffs soar up to 300 meters (984 feet), creating a dramatic backdrop for hiking and photography. Wander along the riverbed and marvel at the rugged beauty of the gorge.

Scenic Drive:

If time permits, we may pause at Ait Ben Haddou for lunch and to admire this historic kasbah. From there, we’ll travel through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. The road climbs from the plains to 2,260 meters above sea level, winding past small villages, cascading waterfalls, and ever-changing landscapes that display the vibrant colors of the mountains.

By the end of the day, we’ll arrive in Marrakech, concluding a scenic and unforgettable journey through some of Morocco’s most striking terrain.
